am i wrong in thinking a bunch were killed off?...if true, who was killed and how?...don't get me wrong i thought there were way too many. the herd needed thinning....and is that why mutant registration isn't a big deal now?...or is it?.........please help.

..they weren't killed off, the Scarlet Witch went mad (again) and 'wished' that there would be 'no more mutants' and so when the world was recreated by her (that's how powerful she is now), most of the mutants were recreated, but only as normal human beings. So they're not dead.

What she did first was, at Quicksilver's urging/manipulation, recreate the entire world so that mutants were the dominant type. But that didn't work for her either after a while, so she wished it back the way it was with that one 'small change'--'no more mutants.'

Many of the more prominent mutants kept their powers, including most of the X-Men. Prof. X and Polaris lost their powers, though Polaris has already gained hers back.

Most of the X-Men still have their powers. It hasn't been revealed whether the Scarlet Witch still has her powers or not. She's living in Eastern Europe as a civilian.

Instead of registering the mutants, the government is now protecting the remaining mutants.
