am i wrong in thinking a bunch were killed off?...if true, who was killed and how?...don't get me wrong i thought there were way too many. the herd needed thinning....and is that why mutant registration isn't a big deal now?...or is it?.........please help.

A bunch were killed off, but the vast majority were just depowered (some needed their powers to survive or were using their powers to fly at the moment they lost them, so died when they lost them; there was also a massacre at Xavier's that killed many former mutants and some that were still mutants, and fighting in the former "District X" ghetto of New York City that killed others).

Plus, it appears that no more mutants will be born in the future (hence the upcoming "Endangered Species" crossover/storyline).
