I just now finished reading DC's infinite crisis,
but gut reaction was that it was a lot better than civil war.

Crisis seems to be a story about heroes finding and regaining hope,
where as civil war is about heroes losing hope, and never regaining it.

Now that you mention it, I have to agree. Crisis was an entertaining roller coaster, while I felt deflated and crappy after Civil War. This is probably because I also feel depressed about the current political climate in the US and Civil War might have hit too close to home. I kind of miss those crazy and silly stories Marvel had in the 70's and 80's. Going back to some of that would be refreshing, and I think some books are doing that, like F'n Spider-Man.
