On titles like that, your best bet may be to pick up the various "40 Years of..." DVD-ROMs that are being released. They contain every issue of titles like Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, X-Men, etc., up to a certain point.

The thing about that is the fact that I really prefer to have the stuff in my had and not on a screen. I'm not 100% sure that I won't ever buy those DVDs but I'm leaning towards a no. I might buy them though. Also I'm not against hunting down back issues. Actually I find that part of the fun of comics. Don't ask me why I just do.
