...the 25 most iconic characters from the Marvel Universe are, IMO, these:

#1 - Spiderman;
*2 - Hulk;
*3 - Iron Man;
*4 - Captain America;
*5 - Thing;
*6 - Wolverine;
*7 - She-Hulk:
*8 - Human Torch;
*9 - Storm;
*10 - Jean Grey;
*11 - Cyclops;
*12 - Invisible Woman;
*13 - Elektra;
*14 - Punisher;
*15 - Daredevil;
*16 - Ghost Rider;
*17 - Silver Surfer;
*18 - Thor;
*19 - Spiderwoman;
*20 - Namor;
*21 - Nick Fury;
*22 - Dr Strange;
*23 - Black Widow;
*24 - Iron Fist;
*25 - Luke Cage.

Why these, and in THAT order? Because I think that the most recognizable a character is for the general public (not only comic readers, but movie-goers and cartoon-watchers as well), the more iconic should be considered.

"Ok you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?"

I agree except for Spiderwoman... Why do I not like her? I'm not sure... I sure wish Marvel had better stand alone female characters... Ms. Marvel's coming close... I hope they keep her book going.
