***I don't know that it happens at all...I haven't encountered any proof of that...if you have then please let me know.

***You are right by my imperialist logic the savage land would belong to the brits...but i also know that Antarctica as a whole is split by many different countries...for all we now in the 616 universe the area that has the savage land could be in american territory..as it seems America is the only modern nation I have seen there, and no other world powers are doing jack about it.

There have been so many stories involving trials etc. that you must have been looking away not to see them. After all, it provided quite a bit of fodder for Daredevil and She-Hulk. Nothing in-story suggests that superheroes are exempt from normal laws.

In the real world the Antarctic Peninsula, where the Savage Land is situated, is claimed by Britain, Argentina and Chile. Antarctica is not clearly split between the various nations concerned, but the claims overlap seriously. BTW, while the US reserves the right to claim territories, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctic_Treaty it has not yet done so. The UK, Argentina, Chile, the Ukraine and the US maintain research stations in that part of Antarctica. There is zero reason to assume it is otherwise in the Marvel Universe.

Also, the Marvel Atlas lists the Savage Land as a sovereign nation ruled by a tribal council.

By the way, the argument about the X-Men fighting e.g. Magneto in Antarctica does not mean much - after all, when they fought Magneto, Dr. Doom or whomever on US territory before the SHRA, they did represent the local, state or federal authorities.
