Personally I don't think they are...not exactly. I think both the Skrulls and the Dire Wraiths evolved from whatever the Deviant race on Skrullos was. I don't buy that the Wraiths came directly from Skrulls or were Skrulls twisted by magic...they had to had to have a common ancestor species.

As for your question...we have seen the normative lifeform from Skrullos

To my knowledge we have never seen the Eternal version of the Skrulls but we have seen a survivor of the Kree Eternals (Ultimus). But we haven't seen the Kree version of the Deviants either...maybe the Cotati represent their Deviants in some way?

I think it would be interesting if they revealed that one of the Skrulls supposed Gods is actually an Eternal from Skrullos.

What were the Skrulls thinking anyways when they offered the stone age Kree a chance to gain their tech and join their empire back when?

I never understood how either the Kree or the Skrulls rid themselves of the Eternals from their respective planets. I mean they were primitive when they took charge of their planet so how did they beat immortal beings who were presumably more advanced?

I like to think that the Eternals from both races left to seek their fortunes in the stars and abandoned their home planets.

And has anyone ever postulated what Skrull society might have become had that egregious error not happened and they had not been ambushed by the stone age Kree that had stolen their tech?

The Skrulls brought it upon themselves by tampering with Kree and Cotati culture and pitting them against each other.

But presumably the Skrulls would have stayed peace loving...or not. I think the Kree attack just gave them the excuse they wanted to become the warmongers of their ancestors era.

That said between the Skrulls and the Kree I've always seen the Skrulls as the lesser evil. The Kree built a much bigger empire in a fraction of the time it took the Skrulls to build theirs. I seem to remember an old Silver Surfer storyline that said the Skrulls controlled a thousand worlds but the Kree controlled a thousand thousand worlds. Plus the Skrulls rule through a military leader or someone in an aristocratic family. The Kree served the will of an evil computerized mind and vice versa. The Skrulls have always been the underdog in that fight IMO. That's why they resort to scheming...they're not as good fighting wars as the Kree are.

I think the Skrulls awoke the slumbering giant when they screwed with the Kree.
