In general I prefer sympathetic villains to non-sympathetic ones. Non-sympathetics can get a good story from time to time, but sympathetics seem deeper and more human. I cannot think of a good most and least at the moment.

I saved your Loki comment so segue into why i hated the last issue of Thor.

The main Thor series has been so-so but i liked the ones that focus on the past and the mythology of it. I loved how they made loki seem sympathetic by crying at his fathers death, being adopted by odin, and used as a scapegoat by him when things went wrong.

But I hated how the last issue of thor took that all away. Loki went back in time and was shown as manipulating himself as a kid to fake affection. to secretly kill odins father, secretly send odin messages, etc. I hate it as it ruined his sympathy.
