I'm thinking that they could have been active around the same time as Pym. Perhaps early experiments with the Tessaract. Perhaps play up the 50's or 60's sci-fi elements. Perhaps an Invasion of the Body Snatcher's feel. Have the movie villain be Annihilus instead of Doom. Have the team disappear into the negative zone for the end of the movie, needing to close the door from the other side. For the after credits scene have some fall out from the Infinity Gauntlet, re-opening that portal.

In short, I need an excuse to have Annihilus for an Annihilation Movie. I want the Fantastic Four chunk of the space opera, sure they could make a deal like they did for Ego. However I like the idea of the next saga being a build up to the Annihilation wave, between Captain Marvel, Guardian's of the Galaxy, a Nova movie, and with the FF, A solo Surfer/Heralds of Galactus Movie.

Hmm. I think you may be onto something. Remagine the FF as a Cosmic Marvel team! They practically already are a cosmic team, but they always come back to Earth. Do they really need to? In the MCU, the Earth belongs to the Avengers. Outer space belongs to no one and everyone. Why does an explorer like Reed even bother with a home base? Why does a hot rod loving teen like Johnny - with access to real rockets - even bother with driving around a track? Why does a guy who looks like a brick wall - who could be part of a spacefaring community where wildly different physical forms are the norm rather than the exception - even bother stalking the streets of Manhattan in a trench coat and hat? Why does a woman who loves these three guys want to limit them to mucking about in the Terran mud? Get them the heck off the Earth!

I really think you've found the answer, Incriptus. As a reward you could have your Annihilation story line. You deserve it after saving the FF from cinematic pointlessness.
