Nothing to see here, really. Asian writers aren't exactly discriminated against, and the pseudonym practice is really a long-standing tradition in fiction. Men have female names. Women have male names. Etc. Etc. Etc.

    No. Good try though.

    1. He pretended to be an Asian writer named Akira Yoshida
    2. Marvel thought they were hiring a person of color. He was not up front with Marvel. They found out about the Akira Yoshida alias at a later date.
    3. When caught in the lie he doubled down on the lie and claimed Akira Yoshida was a real person

He also created a fake backstory and sent someone to the Marvel offices to pretend to be Akira Yoshida. If it was just a pseudonym, maybe he could get a pass. David Wong (John Dies at the End) is a white dude with Asian sounding pseudonym, but I don't think he every tried to pass himself off as Asian.
