Did Peter David ever talk about why he brought back Jim Wilson just to kill him with AIDS?

I certainly don't think it was a slight against the character. He wanted the Hulk to deal with a friend dying from AIDS but you couldn't do that with any of the Hulk regulars without a firestorm. PAD's run was socially conscious I guess. I want to say there was an abortion storyline around that time as well, a storyline about the middle east, and I think there was even an issue where a guy hires a villain to kill his son's boyfriend.

Has Falcon ever really dealt with Jim's death though? Jim was his nephew. Of course I've always thought Sam was closer to his other nephew Jody Casper. I got the vibe Sam was the father figure for his sister Sarah's children but Jim was his brother Gideon's son if memory serves. I don't think Sam and Gideon were close.

Yes he did deal with it... sort of.

In the Hulk Onslaught story, it had Falc glad Hulk was with his nephew. It has been a while but I think he talked to him about it.

definitely remember the thoughts about it.
