Can't someone at the Bullpen come up with a better codename for Joaquin since he doesn't want to keep copying "Falcon"? Why not have a contest?

I can't believe this guy is named "Falcon." I mean, does Sam Wilson know? But I don't read the book for these extraneous team members so really I don't care what he calls himself.

    Quote:
Sam makes a typical Comic book story seed decision that in IRL would be a DUMB, IMPULSIVE, SELFISH decision.

Yup. Who knows how long he'll be gone? Doesn't he have family that will wonder where he is?

    Quote:
The group decision to let him go with his would-be assassin wasn't much better, eh?

I guess they figure he has the right to decide for himself.

I agree with Black Guardian that this was the best plot line we were likely to get for Sam. It gives him something exciting to do with an entertaining companion and at the end he'll probably get a helmet and go back to being a Nova, albeit a rogue one. I also agree with Black Guardian that I would probably buy a Sam/Kaldera mini-series.

Miles and Kamala debating the death of Dubai Girl was thought provoking and maybe the only good part of the issue (save Sparky's save).

Sparky's save was great! Love that pooch. Love all pooches.

I'm glad Miles came clean with Kamala. It moves the story along.

    Quote:
Liked Miles decision to quit because it makes sense.

It makes emotional sense, I guess, but I don't see the rational sense. Miles was trying to keep Kamala and Viv from dying. Maybe he made the wrong decision. Maybe he made the right one. But he wasn't aiming for the bad. He was aiming for the good.

    Quote:
Plus, it's good that he's off the team, better for character and title IMO, in spite of Mephisto wanting it too - anyone agree?

I'll never want Miles to leave the team. He was one of my original Champions. (He was on the team when I started reading the book.) Miles, Sam, Kamala, Viv, Amadeus, Riri, Nadia, Amka... these characters and their interactions are why I buy the book.

    Quote:
Mephisto has a thing against ALL the Spider Totem? Huh.

I love that! I was actually saying that in some earlier thread. (I didn't use the "Totem" word.) Marvel is making Mephisto a genuine Spider-rogue. He's not just some Deus Ex Machina who broke up the comic book marriage of the century. He is dedicated to the suffering of all Spider-Men! This is good.

I think just Cyclops. No other X-Men. But I could obviously be wrong.

Scott used to be a Champion so it makes a kind of sense and is especially poignant with Kamala questioning her right to lead. In marches one of 616's most iconic leaders.

I guess War of the Realms will be an interlude for the Champions. When it's over, we'll get back to Mephisto and Blackheart.
