Is it just me, or did Marvel go overboard in recent years with killing off almost every single character at one point or another? I remember about 15 years ago when Joe Quesada put out an edict that said the only character deaths that can happen should be meaningful and irreversible. Now it seems like most of the X-Men have died at one point or another, along with probably half of the avengers, and the entire incredible Hulk supporting cast.

It was Starlin writing Marvel Universe The End where Thanos wiped out and rebooted the universe to correct a major imbalance between life and death du to all the heroes and villains that kept being resurrected.

This was Joe Quesasdas attempt to set the dead is dead rule however it lasted about a week, the story was then made an alternative timeline so that the main timeline could keep recycling characters.
