I guess I wasn't clear if Tony killed Thanos and his army or just sent them back to their own time. If he did kill them with a snap, they could always be unsnapped to set it right.
I am certain about this one plot point : in 2023, Tony does disintegrate the alternate 2014 versions of Thanos & the Black Order with the Gauntlet.
Thus, there is no longer any possibility that these villains might come back since the original Black Order already died in Infinity War and the original Thanos died at the beginning of Endgame.
Endgame is the reverse mirror of what happened in Infinity War.
Quote:Erase their memories with the Mind Stone. Maybe someone strong like Thor could wield the gauntlet. Most of their shenanigans in the past could be fixed, memories erased and such. The big changes that stand out are past Nebula being killed, Loki escaping with a Tesseract, and Steve living in the past. Did Gamora stay in the future or go back home?
Endgame is supposed to be the last chronological appearance of the Stones. We might see some of them again in flashbacks but they won't serve anymore as McGuffins.
The only exception might be ... the Time Stone because it is also the Eye of Agamotto.
So, I don't think that anybody will use the Gauntlet anymore.
The fate of the Alternate Gamora is unclear. If Steve & Bruce really wanted to "fix the past", they should have sent her back to 2014, 4 years before she is killed by Thanos to get the Soul Stone.
Clearly, that's not what happened after Tony's death.
Steve brought back the Stones & the hammer to the past but not Gamora.
Also, we don't know HOW Steve fixed the past. We may assume that he had the help of the Ancient One but it is unconfirmed.
For example, how did Steve put back the Soul Stone on Vormir ? What happened when he met the Red Skull ? Can the timeline be fixed if the corpse of the Black Widow remains in the past ? Et cetera.
Since it is the last film with Steve Rogers as Captain America, we can only assume that, somehow, he managed to fix everything in the timeline ... except the fate of Gamora.
We already know that, in 2016, Dr. Strange was able to reverse time and to create time loops with the Time Stone (thus, a Sorcerer Supreme can bend the rules of time travel ...).
So, we may assume that the Ancient One helped Steve Rogers to "fix the past" by using the Time Stone.
