I always said sigh-tor-ack, too. I think the long-I is a more natural fit for most English speakers.

I always pronounced it as sit-or-rack (and Magneto as Magneeto(1)), but then I'm not a native English speaker, even though I've been fluent in English since age five. \:\-\) But whether "long-I" is a more "natural" fit is very much open to debate. There's quite a number of words starting in "cy-" which are pronounced with a "short-I" - e.g. the school dictionary on my desk lists cyclamen, cygnet, cylinder, cymbals, cynic (plus two derivations), Cynosure, Cyprian, Cypriot, and cyst (with four derivations); there's also Cymric, which not only uses the "short-I" but also has the initial c pronounced "k".

(1) When I don't pronounce it the German way with a long /e:/ instead of a long /i:/ and with a different "a" - but then I sometimes like to think that this is how Magneto himself pronounces his nom-de-guerre.
