Doctor Strange 019
> Doctor Strange’s life was changed by a car accident in upstate New York. A new accident is going to change Stephen’s life in just as big a way.

Pretty standard stuff. Quite pleasant art. On point cover. In the same one-&-done vein as the last issue's low-key, happy-ending, strange tales. The road-killed phantasm-antagonist is as throwaway as last issue's foe. This is what anthologies and annuals are best suited for. The solution was nothing much different than almost any episode of TV's The InBetween. A trapped spirit can move on upon insight. The only reason to review/note this installment is the two things that happen:

FIRST: The Intro of CHANNOK, Keeper of the Forbidden Spells. A walking storyseed waiting to happen for any MU mystic.

SECOND: The (apparently) definitive status quo update for Stephen as his hands are (completely) healed. Sure, it was in a totally and ridiculously crontrived make-a-wish way. Doc chooses this moment in time, after DECADES of crises and victims, that he has to risk it all for this rando kid in a crash. He also has waited all this time to reveal this common magical knowledge to readers of the existence of Channok a magical DIVINE RESTORATION cure with a cost. Uninterestingly, 'the cost' does not even happen. Maybe fallout will happen later but the anticipation is lost - especially when the finality of No More Magic seems completely (continually) ignored less than a publishing year later. Smartly, he choose to fix his hands instead of simply the boy's brain. Give a man a fish vs teach a man to fish wisdom. And with what amounted to a snap (then regrowth) of his fingers, it looks like Doc can hang up his Vetrinary Sign and start Mastering the Medical Arts again.

Did you find any or all of the other books this week more notable?

Support Cancer Research and Alzheimer Research.

Next issue is the LAST issue, save for an Annual the month after, so maybe the cost will be seen in this? I didn't realize the run was coming to an end, it's been on the short list of books I still collect.

Pull List: Fantastic Four-Immortal Hulk-Capt America-Dr Strange- X-Men
