I told him I wasn't sure myself, and that I'd ask on a message board I knew of with people would know (here):

I was watching Ragnorak and Infinity War again this last week and something is bothering me.

At the end of R, everyone is on the one stolen shuttle -- including
Valkyrie and any of the surviving gladiators from the Games.

Then Thanos' ship appears. At the start of IW, everyone on that ship is
dead except Loki, Thor, Hulk and Heimdall.

When we get to Endgame, at New Asgard, Thor is "chilling" with a couple
of the gladiators (including Rock guy) and Val is sort of running things.

So, why weren't they dead?

My only guess (with no story point to help) was that the shuttle had at
least one escape vessel or the like and those were some of the folk that
Thor ordered to leave.

But it still seems odd.

Anyone know?

According to director Joe Russo, Valkyrie, Korg, Miek and the Sakaar refugees were taken on a rescue ship along with some other Asgardians before Thanos's attack on the Statesman.

The bigger question (or faux pas) is in Ragnarok, specifically the God of Thunder being defeated by electrical shocks from Grandmaster’s obedience discs.
