I really hate that fad, comics came first the movies should adapt to the source material.... thats why I dont like Star Lord or any of the Gaurdians anymore.. I do realize Im in the minority with this opinion.

Well one reason I think would be this:

New fan confusion.

New fans that see the movie and start reading the comics could be confused at the differences and not be interested in buying the comics


During the publication of the now legends Star Wars novels The New Jedi Order where they fought the alien Yuuzhan Vong, one of the books was called Star by Star (I think). It was coming out around the same time as Episode 2 as I recall and one of the Jedi characters from the previous novels was slated to die. However, George intervened and decreed that young Anakin Solo die instead of Kyp Durron.

His reasoning was that readers and movie watchers may become confused about two different Anakins and thus decreed that Anakin Solo must die. To make it worse, Anakin's body did not fade out and his ghost never appeared. Lucas wanted him GONE.
