      Mutants are outlaws. Even with Cable they were on the run from SHIELD most of the time.

    Did you also know the scene in New Mutants #94 where a background was hinted at between Cable and Logan was intended by Rob to reach as far back as the Wild West? What roles he would cast both characters in there is interesting to consider. I wonder if he'd have Cable as a Pinkerton Agent? Caleb Hammer? Would Logan have been leading strikes in the Battle of Blair Mountain?

Probably not, if it was taking place in the Old West. The Battle of Blair Mountain was in West Virginia in the 1920s.
