Scarlet Witch is way too unstable to host the Phoenix.

Compared to Jeanix, Wanda really isn't that bad.
*hides from irate X-Fans*

I really don't think I could contain my laughter if the Phoenix said, "Screw you mutants. This time, I'm going with the woman that nearly wiped you out."

If Phoenix likes red heads, it could revive Mar-Vell and change his hair to red. It was silver until Eon turned it blonde when he became the Protector so why not?

Well, it likes natural redheads, preferably females, but yeah, it doesn't chain itself. If it'll accept that Russian hillbilly brute, anything's possible. Of course, it only did that because it was denied its female redhead candidates.

At the very least, I expect the new host to be female.

Well if the new host is female as Phoenix seems to prefer, then unless Mar-Vell is revived and gender flipped like he was in the movie (BOOOO!)
then Marv isn't coming back......again.

I still believe he would make an excellent host for the Phoenix.

Also back in the original 31st century Guardians series, the phoenix did take a male host.

Have any books had any new young red head characters introduced yet?

But in any event this is another gimmick with crossover and tie in issues that won't be a thing and in some cases be completely stupid such as the recent 2020 gimmick with the iWolverine tie-ins.

The variant covers showing assorted Phoenix themed costume heroes/villains will as usual likely be nice to see but that will be the only good thing.

Also I doubt the Silver Surfer will be the host, that would be a bit too much power, same with any herald of Galactus.

In fact I just had an interesting thought, let's say Marv finally does come back (we should be so lucky), back in AvX when he briefly returned he did thank the Beast for his efforts to cure him.

But should Marv come back, I'd like for him to ask the assorted heroes that tried to help him "Why did you stop your cancer research after I died, when it could have saved so many?"
