The punk influence on these songs is obvious.

This Nirvana song, especially, could easily have been classified as punk.

Question: What do Trent Reznor and Neil Gaiman have in common?

Answer: Both are alluded to in Tori Amos songs.

Meanwhile, I had never watched Trent Reznor perform live before. I've always liked his modus operandi. Create the album all by himself, just him and a computer in a hotel room. Then assemble a band to perform the songs live.

One day, maybe Americans will rage against the machine for real.

I am haunted by the last section of the lyrics:

Yes I know my enemies
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite
All of which are American dreams (8 times)
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
