In my opinion the two choices are mutually exclusive. The mistake DC kept making was to try to merge the two. The reincarnation angle fits with the Golden Age origin. It doesn't fit with the Silver Age origin. I'd be fine with a movie based on the Golden Age origin. I'd also be fine with a movie based on the Silver Age origin. But try to merge the two and you end up with conflicting aesthetics, magic versus science.
If the Silver Age origin is used, then the best rendition of that is Hawkworld. Sure, Hawkworld was a retcon of that origin, it added layers of detail, but the result was sophisticated and both morally and dramatically complex.
