Gernot is in the hospital again. Please pray for him (or send good vibes his way). He has blood clots in his leg and lungs. It sounds bad, but when I talked to him on the phone he sounded fine and in good humor, even cracking some jokes. But he will be on medication for at least 6 months. Like he said "they don't mess around with blood clots."

Best wishes Gernot, buddy. Just the fact that they know about the clots and he's in the hospital getting treated is good. That's something they shouldn't mess around with. Glad to hear he's keeping his spirits up.

But while the cat's away the mouse will play. I feel like I'm stealing all these songs are so great. I can't believe they haven't already been played. Enjoy um!

Yes, this is a great one. One of Marley's best. Powerful stuff.

The video for this song was played ad nauseum for a while on MTV back in '82. I liked it them, but it did get made fun of a bit after a while. I think it's aged well, though.

I like this one. Rush songs I usually either really like, or don't think much of. This one is the former. Great guitar.

You can't deny Prince's talent. Over the years, I've learned to appreciate his work more than I did back then. This song is pretty good.

Oh, Pete, Pete, Pete. We'll forgive you because you did a bang up job pinch hitting for Gernot(and because you're a moderator), but this song came from Van Halen's classic first album released in 1978. It was required listening for any boy growing up in the early 80's, but it's a 70's song. And a great one, too. One of those songs where everything seems to work, lyrics, vocals, and, of course, the guitar.

I like this. I've never really given Sonic Youth a listening too, though I know they're one of the most influential groups for the grunge sound of the 90's. Very cool.

This album was an overnight sensation back in 1985. All of a sudden, everyone was into the Beastie Boys. It was a big step in getting white boys into rap. This song is good with lyrics, telling a story with lots of attitude, and, for a 15 year old, was like nothing I'd ever heard before. The whiffle ball bat line got lots of snickers back then.

For some reason, I never really liked this song. Annie Lennox has a great voice, but I never got into this, back in the day, or as I got older.
