Yeah I read all the Eastman and Laird issues of the original 80s black and white Mirage series. The book ran 62 issues but Eastman and Laird only did the first 20 or so issues and then focused on the movies and properties more. They returned in the early 90s to close off the series. I think it was 48-62 the City at War storyline which was an awesome closer the series. The first series had such a cool tone and feel to it. It could be totally fun and strange and at the same time gritty and grim like the Frank Miller comics that influenced it. As discussed earlier this week, the first movie did a great job capturing this on screen. The movie did not get as strange as the original comics sometimes got but it would have been too bizarre if it had lol.
I also read bits of the series when it was relaunched under Image in the late 90s and again when it was relaunced for Volume 4 by Peter Laird. I am currently read the IDW series which has been a lot of fun. Still nothing beats the original B&W. So yeah, I'm a lifer.
I read the first, I dunno, thirty or so issues? It's hard for me to remember.
