Venom- Probably my favorite Spider-Man villain. He was Spider-Man's scariest villian IMO. He knew Spider-Man's secret identity(and would hang out around his loved ones), didn't cause his spider-sense to go off, had all of his powers, and was stronger than him. Talk about a dangerous combination. The danger and stakes always seemed higher when he came around.

For some odd reason I didn't like him. Your points are well taken. Liking him would make a lot of sense. I think I just didn't like his look.

Thanos- Can't believe no one has mentioned him yet. I love Infinity Gauntlet and read to pieces as a kid.

Definitely one of the greatest villains of all.

Which brings to mind - Darkseid! Sure, he was created in the 70s, but one of his greatest story lines was published in 1982: the Great Darkness, starring the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Venom, Thanos and Darkseid are all villains that should only be used one every 10 years or so so they don't lose their impact. Over use them and it dilutes their danger factor.

They can be seen to be pulling the strings in between major appearances and manipulating events.
