Who is the greatest character of the 80s and why?

Who is the greatest character of the 90s and why?

I'm going for characters that epitomized the decade rather than just my favorites.

80s: Gordon Gecko. For better or worse he was the poster child of the 80s and 'Greed is Good' was the motto.

90s: Tyler Durden (and his alter ego). The duality of the character encompasses the materialism of most of the late 20th century but foreshadows the desire for a change common among all so called 'lost' generations. Shame we didn't listen to Tyler.
