Malibu's Protectors were mostly Centaur Publishing characters. Centaur went out of business in 1942 and those characters lapsed into the public domain naturally, 50 years later. This is why Malibu was able to use them in 1992. I think the timespan has been lengthened since then (maybe not).
Aura and Thresher were new. Nightmask was formerly Masked Marvel.
Quote: Do you mean that IDW reprinted the Malibu Protectors material ?
What I meant was that IDW reprinted some of Miss Fury's old Golden Age stories several years ago. Dynamite updated the character with new adventures 2 years ago (or so).
Quote: this arc was perhaps " hard PG-13/soft R " , by Funnybook Standards & Practices anyway , as far as depicting bedroom situations/skin .
Miss Fury always was pushing the bounds of fashion propriety. Back in the 40s, she was banned for wearing a bikini.

Identifies plenty (maybe all) of the characters, of which there are more than I expected.
