Well, I certainly can't disagree with you about the chronology.  It makes no sense.  Honestly, that's why I barely touched on it.

What I like most about the first two movies is that I find them the scariest.   Also, the first three have the most nostalgia value for me.  But you are right about the problems.

Unfortunately, I've lost some of my videotapes over the years, so I probably won't be rewatching the entire series.  I haven't seen 4, 7,8 or 9 in years.

I like them all to an extent.  I think I liked 3 and 6 even though they are cheesy, they really turn Jason into a franchise character.  3 gives him the hockey mask and 6 turns him into an actual animated corpse, a pissed-off zombie.  I have the Paramount DVD set of 1-8 and I have 9, 10, Freddy vs Jason and even the remake.  Even the ones that everyone hates like 9 is kind of good that they tried to do something different.

I'm the same.  I like them all, though I don't have much to say about Part 9.  I might have only seen it once and would like to give it another chance.
I watched the remake recently and enjoyed it but it didn't feel like part of the original series at all.  Jason X is great.  I watched that one again just a few weeks ago.  Part 6 I saw in the theater any would rate in the top 5 and Part 3 was the last one that really scared me.  I think I turned from 12 to 13 between parts 3 and 4 and that made a difference in how I viewed the series.  I still loved the movies, but the nostalgia, and the scariness, started to wane.
