I like the black costume only when it's used as part of the symbiote storyline. I think the cartoon and movie actually got it better by having the costume effect Spider-Man's personality.

That didn't happen in the comics? Wow. I was thinking it must have.

I remember missing ASM 252 on the stands, but I got it from the Cookie Crisp give away. All the black costume issues were hot sellers back then.

I usually consider a costume change to be a cheap gimmick aimed at garnering interest from people who otherwise would be indifferent to a particular book. I hate cheap gimmicks.

I think your story would've worked great, but I'd give the Peter Parker clone some of Peter's humanity. He could reveal Spidey's ID and cause Aunt May's heart attack, but I can't see him not caring. He's got some PP in him after all. There could've been great pathos in this story.

I agree. The clone should be conflicted.

Finally, I'd like to comment on Charles Vess. I wouldn't say I'm a great fan of his. For me, he can be pretty hit or miss. But that image PPP picked, a poster insert from Spectacular Spider-Man 189, is fantastic! That's classic Vess. I think he drew Hobgoblin better than any other character.

I meant to comment on the fact that I absolutely love our current banner. PPP knew a winner when he saw it, and his lettering enhanced it.
