I remember him as the pitchman for Coca-Cola so it was odd to see him get a tv series off of that. I remember we rented the movie which was the pilot for the show. I liked the show but can't remember too much about it. I remember my parents commenting that it wouldn't last long because the main villains on the series seemed to be TV networks and the network they were on probably wouldn't care for that. I'll have to watch it again sometime.

He had already been a thing in Britain before the Coke deal. In 1985, he was this kooky talk/music video host, and these shows later aired on Cinemax in the states.

Those commercials were hitting about the same time that ABC aired the pilot movie in the states (late 1986). The series came about 6 months later.

*sigh* And his series gave many of us Americans our first glimpse of Amanda Pays. *sigh*
