Sandman is getting a movie that looks interesting.

After some googling, it looks to me like a Sandman film is unlikely to get made any time soon, unfortunately. It definitely had momentum for a while.

I think it could be a great television series if it true to the source material. Animated may be the way to go but live action would be fine though it might be to expensive. Also it might be cool if it had Gaiman doing a show talking about each arc as they begin.

I think a TV series could allow enough time to explore all the weirdness that is Morpheus and the Endless. Oddly, though, I don't feel any great eagerness to see it, because I don't think any medium where Gaiman lacks total control will ever be conducive to the lyricism, subtlety, metaphor, grandeur and perversity of the original comic. Tell me Gaiman is writing and directing it and I may turn optimistic.

I don't think he's doing all that on his American Gods series. But who he does have is Bryan Fuller who did Hannibal (the show not the movie). And Hannibal was awesome. I don't know that Gaiman would actually be a good director. You need some kind of auteur director to make it all look pretty.
