You can pick two - a male and a female. Or two males and two females if you want to vote in both categories: best and worst.

In this case "best" means "exemplifies the best spirit of the 90s."

"Worst" means "exemplifies the worst spirit of the 90s."

If you're considering many options, let's hear them!

You can skip "best" if all you have is "worst" - as I think may happen.

Sports figures, news anchors, actors or actresses, musicians, politicians, writers, painters, sculptors, dancers, entrepreneurs, CEOs, inventors, scientists, philosophers, religious leaders, criminals, dictators, serial killers, terrorists - anyone who might ever have appeared on the cover of a magazine is fair game.

For male icon, I'd have to say Cobain. He'd have been in the running even before his suicide but afterward, he became a James Dean-like icon for the confused and disenfranchised youth of the 90s.

For female maybe Gillian Anderson for her role as Dana Scully in The X-Files. She was smart and capable, rarely used as a damsel in distress often actually saving the male lead. She was attractive and sexy but never really a bombshell. A great character.

Worst is more difficult for me as I didn't spend much time pondering things I didn't like in the 90s. Vanilla Ice? He was terrible but I didn't have any real hatred or even that much annoyance for him.
Shania Twain? I really think her music is awful.
