Indeed, it is not hard to believe that either side could not live without the war. It had gone on for so long they knew nothing else except the core values they fought over.

After the movie in season three, rodimus led the autobots and they did begin to spread a message of peace and tried to broker peace talks with other warring races despite the decpticons still existing

So they get an A for effort in that regard. I'm also surprised that since rodimus was so Keen to protect all life that he didn't get more proactive about taking down Galvatron. Many deceps would have cheered if that happened.

Lord zarak could only have ruled them as he had the power of scorponok, but klll zarak and scorponok is useless.

Cyclonus however....if he had been able to stop trying to be the voice of reason for Galvatron and destroyed him, cyclonus could have led them.

Th n there is vector sigma, it seemed to favor the autobots and engineered things so that Cybertron gets a new golden age....for the autobots. I also suspect vector sigma can be the reason for how Optimus was rescued by the humans in return of Optimus and for why he had no battle damage when they found him.

They even picked up a faint signal which meant Optimus wasn't dead but in stasis lock
