I remember his name but not his face nor any of his story lines (if they had story lines back then). Looking at him now, though, I have to say, his name fits him beautifully. I can easily see him as a gorilla.
I imagine his opponents had some difficulty lifting him from the mat. Did any of them try? Probably. The sheer strength of these men has always impressed me. I watched wrestling for the bravado and the feats of strength. Also my younger daughter liked it, so it gave us something to share.
Too many cool figures from our younger days are passing.
