Ross got the most press and sales obviously, but there were other excellent painters out there. I'll throw out Glen Orbik, who sadly died in 2015 of cancer.

I remember LOVING his 3 covers of Superman for the opening issues of "Legends of the DCU."

The two that came to my mind first were Simon Bisley, who did stuff for Heavy Metal, TMNT, Lobo, and also did Batman/Dredd ... and Martin Emond, who I mostly knew for White Trash, a book that probably wouldn't see print today, and later did some Lobo stuff.
