Statements like that depend a lot on what exactly you feel Spider-Man is "supposed to be about." For someone like me who thinks of him as "the normal guy superhero," marriage is a perfectly acceptable move.
Not to mention when you have a status quo in place for almost half of the existance of the character, that becomes part of "what the character is all about" - particularly since it informs any other incarnation of the character.

Hey, has anyone actually counted how many issues were written with a married Spidey as compared to the original single guy? Just curious, as I see the above statement a lot; About married Spidey existing for almost a half of the characters life. i.e 21 years I think, compared to around 24. Not really saying it means all that much, but I'm curious to see if anyones totalled it up yet... LTCBF
