Asking about Spider-Man comics is OT?
> Hey, has anyone actually counted how many issues were written with a married Spidey as compared to the original single guy? Just curious, as I see the above statement a lot; About married Spidey existing for almost a half of the characters life. i.e 21 years I think, compared to around 24.
> Not really saying it means all that much, but I'm curious to see if anyones totalled it up yet...
No, but we can make some estimates to start with.
Starting with the main books...
Including annuals (while trying to cut out the ones that were reprints or MTU issues without Spider-Man), you figure 312 issues of Amazing, 136 of Spectacular, 33 of Web and 150 of Marvel Team-Up. So 636 regular Spider-Man comics. (I feel weird counting UTOS here since it was done in the shadow of the marriage, but if you want, the total would be 663.)
Post marriage, we have 253 issues of Amazing, 138 of Spectacular, 99 of Web, 33 of Sensation, 98 of adjectiveless/Peter Parker, 57 of Peter Parker, 27 of Spectacular, 41 of Marvel Knights/Sensational and 23 of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Can't remember how long Spider-Man Unlimited lasted. 20 issues or so? I can't remember how annuals shake out, so add about 25 or so for those. So 814 as the baseline. MJ was out of the picture for about 50 of those, and both of them were out of the picture for an additional 48, which sorta knocks it down to 716, but Peter WAS married through all of that, except for 26 issues where he thought he was a widower.
There were also quite a few minis, some taking place before the wedding, some not.
Guest appearances probably even out, maybe leaning more towards the post-marriage side because of the crossover mania, Spider-Man joining the Avengers, etc.
