No, but it was implied. By equating support of gay marriage with disdain for the new direction, and showing disdain for those who disdain the new direction, he is effectively showing disdain for gay marriage. Or, to put it more bluntly, he is saying to some fans "Ha ha, you support gay marriage."

Yes they are, but it's "generally" considered acceptable to call out offensiveness. There may be some African-Americans that are not offended by the use of the n-word, but do you find anything wrong with making the general statement that that word is offensive to blacks?
