Actually, that's not the way House of M worked although it is a common misconception. Some people got what they wanted, but not everyone. There were lots of heroes that were in terrible situations in House of M. It wasn't simply wish fulfillment, it was Wanda massively warping reality. Some people got what they wanted, some people didn't. House of M really has to be treated as just an alternate reality and not a given character's Utopia. Peter and MJ (at least reference and "destiny" wise) preceded Gwen's appearance in ASM, and persisted after her death. The movies and cartoons have pretty much further solidified that. MJ or mentions of MJ have been around pretty much the entirety of Spider-Man whereas Gwen was a nice 70 or so issue run (really she's on par w/the Black Cat). Gwen, like Felicia, was an important part of Peter's life (made more important b/c she died in his arms), but MJ has always been his "Lois Lane".
