In this week's issue, Spidey, after getting his butt kicked for a bit pretty much confirms he has a rapid healing ability which I thought went away with the organic webbing. Clearly enhanced powers are being chosen as needed. It's the first time I remember it being referred since OMD

Spider-Man, like many with super-powers in the MU, has an usually unstated rapid healing power. What a human would recover from in a week, he could do so in a day or so. He doesn't have the healing abilities of Wolverine, Deadpool, or any of those where "Healing factor" is a main power, but he's never down for too long.

Yep, it's a side benefit of the ol' Spider Strength.

Then why the need to point it out? His enhanced healing ability seems more convenient than anything else.

There have been many stories where Peter gets his butt kicked a lot less severely, then shows up to work (especially when he was teaching) the next day with highly visible scratches and bruises which certainly would heal rapidly but haven't. Yet sometimes he gets gored and suffers injuries that bring him close to death and he's back on his feet equally as Peter Parker at work or where-ever.

Which raises question, is he essentially immortal (hence I shudder to mention "The Other" storyline?) That would explain his restorative powers but those kicked in because of cancer or something that a healing power certainly would prevent in the first place wouldn't it? Plus Peter gets colds occasionally.

By the way, if one follows the logic, spiders are fragile creatures. They do not have tremendous recuperative abilities. A break in their skin can be deadly as they have an exoskelton (but they are not insects.) Their only real protection from predators and offense is (poison which Peter doesn't have) and a web which is man made by Peter. Their physical body is easily damaged which is why they wait for smaller prey to come to them in a web and don't go hunting for their own (very few go out hunting.) In the web they are very aggressive as they have the upper hand but outside..
