    Finally, Batman is more of a static character than Spider-Man, so seeing where he was after one year is essentially giving you all you need to know moving forward...

I think that's key. Also, DC character "elements" tend to be characters and set-ups while Marvel character "elements" also include some key stories they were in. So creating a "primer" for a DC character tends to be different than doing one for a Marvel character.

    I just have bad feelings about bring back the baby, especially to be definitively killed and made the catalyst for a divorce. I think that it would have a lasting "aging" effect that wouldn't fade away as readily as the final solution that Marvel came up with.

I think the "weight" of the last 20 years is there regardless of cosmic reset buttons. Be vague about the details when MJ returns and you're no worse off then than they'll be now. (Although I've been wrong before and it's all moot anyway. ;\-\) )
