Between Fights seemed like a failed attempt at a “Kid Who Collects Spider-Manâ€. Sure I liked the kids fantasizing about the kids imagining the dad fighting alongside Spidey and it was cute how they managed to make up elaborate stories about things that never happened (Goblin King of Pterodactyls is way better than Norman Osborn: Director of HAMMER). However I think there needs to be an upper limit to just how much of a bumbling nice guy Peter is. He almost accidentally gave away his secret identity twice (what normal person thinks “I’ll just climb on top of the elevatorâ€?) so he’s darn lucky those kids were lost in their own little world. Plus it seems a little weird to me that he bailed on a job interview just because he put a human face to the competition. He DOES realize that every time he sold a picture to the Bugle that meant they had less space for the work of other photographers, right? Surely some small part of him had to realize that his stint as a teacher was taking work from other people who actually had an education background.
I think the point was that Pete figured a single working Mom with 2 kids and a shell-shocked hubby at home needed the job more than he did.
