If Ditko had given the Chamelon a tongue like the Toad had in the first X-Men movie, how cool would that have been!

Yes, also, back in the 1980s no writer thought about giving the alien costume to Chameleon.

Of course, the character wouldn't have been called Venom and we wouldn't have seen anymore the cool black costume (except on Julia Carpenter) but the properties of the costume would have been perfect for Chameleon (except, perhaps, the sound weakness).

And as I see in the wikipedia article, Goliath birdeaters only rarely prey on birds, and very small ones at that. While a lot of bird species probably could easily eat or at least kill spiders of the size of the one that bit Peter. BTW, trying to eat a vulture would be a very different proposition for a spider than eating a hummingbird.

Yes, of course, I was only thinking about a flying animal catched in a giant web, or something else like that.
Actually, I think that Vulture was probably meant to be a Top 5 Spider-Man foe, back in the 1960s.
Let's look at the 5 villains who appear in Peter Parker's dream in ASM 100 : Vulture, Lizard, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Kingpin.
