The Amazing Mary Jane 001
This was a pretty standard set up issue. Nothing particularly bad about it but nothing particularly exciting with the 20page chatfest either. MJ gets her name on a book again, good for her. Spidey gets a small in-continuity guest appearance, good for readers. The last page Revolving Door appearance of the Sinister Six was a surprise but is also predictably peeving - but who knows, maybe they'll all get satisfying footnotes next ish. The major "flaw" with this premiere, imo, was the MJ characterization when she casually (and revoltingly from my POV) accepts a team-up -on this Spidey explotative film- offer with one of the A-List Spider-Rogues, the murderous Mysterio, after blunderingly revealing his true identity and surreptitiously selfish sales pitch.
The art was okay as was an update on Kangaroo.
A bit curious that no real hint of Kindred (drama) for newer readers to see.

MJ giving Beck the time of day, and seemigly BEAMING at the notion of making the movie a sucess without questioning it, is also my biggest peeve with what is otherwise a very entertaining issue. Her connection with Peter is as strong as ever, and I liked their dance break. I guess MJ is holding info back from Peter to protect him, but would it have killed for some INNER MONOLOGUES TO CONVEY THIS?
