Doc Ock's spare arms recover James off-panel and take him back to his family. Otto proceeds to break every bone in Spider-Norman's body before sending him back to his own dimension using the shard from the web of life and destiny. In a video message that goes viral, he then denounces the Superior Spider-Man identity and labels it a weakness, and that anyone who crossed his path back then seeking retribution will be considered an enemy to him now.

Otto visits Anna Maria and Emma in hospital, telling them that while he is somewhat aware of his days as Superior Spidey, he no longer has any existing memory of Peter's identity. He vows to crush Spider-Man when he meets him next, just like old times. Anna doesn't buy Ock's story and she and Emma try to convince him to stay, but Otto refuses.

Later, Emma, Anna and Max attend the 'funeral' of Elliot Toliver, as Ock watches from a distance, talking to Digger. He offers Digger's allies a severance package to ensure they never plague him again. Digger asks Otto if he ever enjoyed being Superior Spider-Man. Otto chooses not to dwell on it, it is a waste of mental energy and there is no going back. He dumps his costume in the trash 'Spidey No More' style and walks away

My thoughts

Gotta admit, with the Superior Spider-Man finale, I was expecting a twist fake out where it'd be revealed Ock didn't make the deal with Mephisto and used an Life Model Decoy of his old self to outwit Spider-Osborn...I mean, think about it, if he DID say no to Mephisto, something Peter, Miles, and Ben haven't done, he could truly have decreed himself the Superior Spider-Man, but no, they went there Ock is back to his regular pudgy and devious self...so I guess this makes Kaine the superior spider-man by default as he has'nt made any deals...maybe Miguel too. Keep them fan favourites pure Marvel.

I do hope these trifectas of OMD retcons pays off in a big way down the line.

Anna Maria's dig at Peter only having the hots for Felicia and MJ was bang out of order. She deserved to have her help rejected after that. You can file her in the rubbish tip with Carlie as love interests nobody's gonna remember in a few years.

Art was good, Otto's trademark ham is maintained, all the toys are put back on the shelf. I look forward to what Spencer might do with the renewed Peter/Ock rivalry. I nevr liked the Superior concept or storylines, but I feel bad for it's fans.

This really saddened me. A LMD that becomes a villainous Doc Oct or a split that leaves us wondering who is really Otto would have been better.
I am sceptical Otto wouldn’t have saved his identity to an Octobot before making any kind of deal. So one day maybe...
