He did completely ruin Ben Urich's career for a time, because of Ben's book "Dynasty of Evil." SO the readers of New York lost confidence in one of the best Newsmen in the city, and also lead to him having his hands tied behind his back when investigating stories. Who knows what important stories couldn't be covered. Lives may have been lost. Bad men's deeds never brought to the light, only gaining more and more influence. He abandoned his son, who was dealing with a pretty severe drug addiction, to screw off to Europe for a while and plot revenge. Kind of a dick move. He was reconnected to have given Dr. Octopus's ex-girlfriend AIDS, pretty messed up... which also hurt the impact of the classic Spider-Man Unlimited #3, the true crime. The baby thing is tough to beat. Gwen's death pushed Pete into the arms of his true love MJ, so it was actually a favor if you look at the big picture. Of course, it is negated anyway since Pete killed her, not Norman (don't believe me? there is a snap sound effect next to Gwen's neck when Peter webs her),. Yes the kidnapping was necessary for it to happen, but... | |||||||
