Quote:Highly entertaining issue. Loved how Jameson's new sense of priority to Peter ends up causing him and Teresa even more problems. We also get a few jabs at Hydra Cap (Spencer's previous work of infamy) and Mephisto making millions for people who sell their souls to him. Foreigner is as always a two-timing weasel and you have to feel for the vulnerable Sable, and now you also hope she gets back on her feet so she can kick his from underneath him.
Totally agree. Also, there was the neat simultaneous in-continuity nod to other titles. There was Strikeforce, Deadpool, and debatably 6 other book adventures going on. BTW, can anyone cite those 6 issues? Probably Hulk against a ROXXON monster? Titania in a book? The other 4? By contrast, the supervillain cameo choices were peeving. It's GREAT to use high profile villains if it makes sense. A poker game party with Mole Man, Red Ghost, Batroc, Mr.Sinister, and MODOK - is probably one of the hardest combos to No-Prize as plausible given their current status. Well, except if they're just fakes but that did not seem the ..err.. deal. On the other hand the fun cameos by Winter Soldier and Machinesmith worked quite well.
Not so much a nitpick as a curiousity, why is it being written as Spidey genuinely believes this mission is on behalf of SHIELD? All the titles seem to reinforce the spy org is absolutely defunct, right? Is this a believable first hint that they're coming back sooner than later? Remind me is Chameleon being held in a manned facility? Abandoned SHIELD base cell? Or just a hidey hole that Teresa is using?
The art had some fun to it. And on page 7, when JJJ was shouting at Nora, there was a really nice nod to Sal Buscema's Hulk run when Jade Jaws would have those CLASSIC solid white spit lines from top to bottom teeth.
