I'm not a huge fan of dream issues, especially when the entire issue is a dream, but this story did do some things well, like making Peter's role in the dream with Overdrive be that of a helpless observer.
I, too, thought that MJ was having the dream in the end, but I also thought the Web Warriors splash page was an ad at first!
While the dream within a dream didn't catch me off-guard (but I'm old enough to remember An American Werewolf In London), the overly long message on MJ's machine was a nice touch to show something was off.
While the issue was ok, it just seemed like more running in place. If the dream wasn't Peter's than am I correct that he still isn't even aware of Kindred? I think MJ having the dream would've worked better. Yes, Madame Web is a psychic but could she really tap into such deep feelings between Peter and MJ? Possibly, but why would this be important to her? I skipped Spider-Verse so most of these characters don't mean much to me in their current incarnation.
I would rather this whole Kindred thing have been dealt with by issue 30 thru 35 and that it was more interesting. Too much of a slow burn. I will give them credit, at least the Absolute Carnage tie-ins dealt with it as I did not collect that mini-series.
The issue itself was ok along with the entire Spencer run. Nothing memorable yet.
