I'm not up to date on Supergirl, and yet from what i understand Imra Ardeen is Mon-el's newly arrived wife and has black hair... which while disorientating from a comics fans perspective also makes it easy to detach from this show and accept it as what it is - a series that is only very loosely based on the comics source material and therefore should not be taken so literally. For a mainstream television audience unaware of such details the only thing that matters is what is there on the screen...

I'm too big a Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes fan to take this lying down. ;\) Trouble is, television, films, and cartoons are more influential to mainstream audiences than the source material. You're quicker to find someone who has read and watched Game of Thrones, than someone who watches Supergirl and knows the set-up with the Legion is all wrong.

The shame (for a comics fan) is that the Legion was done extremely well back in Smallville, and managed to be very faithful to the comics source material. So when you have the proof it can be done, and done extremely well, the bemusement and concern with Supergirl here serves only to make the series all easier to care that bit less about.
I like the show for the quality of its cast and the escapism it offers, whether it stands as a legitimate and lasting take on the 'Superman' mythos is a whole other issue however. Supergirl as a character and title has often had this problem in carving her own legend and conjuring her own distinct rogues and concepts, rather than resorting to lazily borrowing her cousins for use. But this IS her story being told on-screen, so naturally the world is going to revolve around her. \(yes\)

I don't care if her world revolves her, as she is the lead. It's giving her Superman's world to do the revolutions that I find confounding.
