So it's more effort to butcher a character by going their own way instead of honoring the source material and sticking with it? Whatever makes you happy with that self justification, more power to you. Could you imagine a midget playing Superman simply because someone was too lazy to hire a tall guy for the part? What if the show runners didn't want him from Krypton but instead wanted him as a Mutant instead? What if they wanted him to have a third eye? What if they wanted SuperMAN to be SuperWOMAN? What if they wanted Superman to have no powers at all, but some really strong guy who has it as a nickname? What would it take, I wonder, for these unnecessary changes to rub you the wrong way? What if the show runners actually did their jobs by hiring the actress to play a version of Reign where she wears Grey make up and spend hours in the gym to look the part of a muscular amazon instead of the trash we got? Are YOU actually claiming there is something wrong about sticking to the original source material by criticizing me for my stance? I didn't contradict myself in any particular. The show runners want to base a show off of Supergirl, great. But that doesn't give them the right to butcher known comic characters simply because they feel like it. The show loses it's emergence factor when I can't even recognize this character or that character. What is the point of using them if they aren't anything at all like their comic counterpart? No point at all, so why bother even doing a show called "Supergirl"? They might as well have tried reviving the TV show called Heroes instead. And yet, you act like there is something wrong with my opinion when your criticising it. I have every right to my opinion, you don't like it then don't read it.

Here's a perfect example of how to change a character without butchering her. Jane Foster is a nurse in the comics, but in the movie she was a scientist who studies stars. It worked for the film because a nurse wouldn't have, not without changing the movie...a lot. But guess what, Jane still looked like Jane. She was still the same at her core. THAT is how one changes a character. In the comics, Reign has grey skin and has huge muscles. In the show, she has a lame costume with a background that isn't even remotely close to the comics. That is how one does NOT change a character because then that character is in name only and nothing more. So the next time you want to criticize me for crying foul over a butchered job, you might want to think about the comparison I just gave long and hard. You might also want to try respecting another person's opinion instead of criticizing people like me for sharing it because it comes off the wrong way.

Not that I don't see your point about Supergirl being the inspiration for the Legion upstaging Clark (and about the show in general) but is the Reign complaint really fair?

For all we know by the season finale she will look grey. You may very well get your way about that plot point so it's a little early to poo poo it. Her journey as a villain is just beginning.

And honestly Odette Annable is lovely...why would anyone actually want her to hide those looks under ugly grey makeup?

Did anyone ever catch Odette on Banshee? Really liked her character on that.
